According to regulations from the Directorate of Health, all those choosing to come to 9 mánuðir ehf. for a 3- and 4D ultrasound are to be informed that no diagnosis of malformations of the featus will be performed. This includes measurement of the baby´s size and weight as no such measurements will be made.
It is important that parents realise that the clarity and quality of 3- and 4D pictures are dependant on various factors and that there is no guaranteeing the outcome of the pictures. Factors which affect the clarity and quality of the pictures are for instance, the amount of tissue between the probe and the baby, the type of mothers connective tissue, the position of the baby, position of the placenta, lenght of pregnancy.
The amount of amniotic fluid, and layer of fat tissue on mothers belly, if colon is in the way or if there is scar tissue and/or myoma between the probe and the featus.
